Penguins to Host Hockey Fights Cancer Night on November 19

The Pittsburgh Penguins, in partnership with UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, will host Hockey Fights Cancer Night on Tuesday, November 19, when the team faces off against the Tampa Bay Lightning at 7:00 PM at PPG Paints Arena. The event is part of the NHL’s league-wide initiative to raise awareness and support for those impacted by cancer.

The first 7,500 fans in attendance will receive a complimentary “Join the Fight” baseball cap presented by UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. Tickets are available at ticketmaster.com/penguins. A special ticket package that includes a Penguins-branded Hockey Fights Cancer hockey shirt is also available in limited quantities here.

In-Game Fundraising and Fan Activities

  • Mystery autographed pucks, signed by members of the current roster, along with used warmup pucks, will be available for purchase behind Section 104, with proceeds supporting cancer programs at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Sales begin at the start of the first intermission.
  • As part of the NHL’s “I Fight For” campaign, fans can pick up dedication cards on the concourse behind Section 104 to share who they fight for.
  • The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation will host a Hockey Fights Cancer auction from November 19 at 12 PM through November 25 at noon, with exclusive items available here.

Throughout the evening, individuals affected by cancer will be recognized during various in-game moments:

  • The Military Salute
  • The National Anthem
  • A Fanboni ride between periods
  • A special bell-ringing ceremony by a local youth cancer survivor

So Many Angels, a nonprofit supporting children with cancer, will unveil inspirational portraits of three young fans from UPMC Children’s Hospital, and their families will be hosted in the Crosby Charity Suite. UPMC will also welcome cancer patients and survivors to their suite for the game.

Penguins players are also participating in the NHL’s “Movember” campaign, growing mustaches throughout November to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer research. Fans can support their favorite players by donating here.
