The Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins announced today that the three organizations will team up for a fifth consecutive year to host their #BurghProud Thanksgiving meal distribution benefiting families in the community.
Families throughout the greater Pittsburgh area who need help putting Thanksgiving dinner on their table are invited to attend this drive-thru event on Tuesday, November 25, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Mazeroski Way cul-de-sac. The meal distribution, in partnership with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and supported by Giant Eagle, will aim to provide up to 300 families with a turkey, festive produce, apple pie, and a $15 Giant Eagle gift card, along with special gifts from the three teams.
The line for the distribution will form along North Shore Drive at the corner of Mazeroski Way, and meals will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis with a limit of two shares per vehicle.
The Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins continue to work with area partners to support those in need and ensure access to resources for struggling community members and families. The three organizations recognize that now, more than ever, there is a need to help those experiencing food insecurity, especially around the holiday season.
Community members looking to help are encouraged to visit pittsburghfoodbank.org to make a financial contribution today to help families in our community. Families in need are encouraged to visit a local food pantry and check the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank’s website and social media channels for future distributions.
Media are invited to attend this event. Media requesting more information should contact Terry Rodgers, Pirates Sr. Director of Communications.
