The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the world’s leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis (CF), a life-threatening genetic disease that affects more than 30,000 people in the United States and 70,000 people worldwide. Although CF is a rare disease, more than 10 million Americans are symptomless carriers of the defective CF gene. CF affects different parts of the body, primarily the lungs and digestive system.
CFF’s vision is a cure for every person with cystic fibrosis and a life free from the burden of this disease. Working alongside the CF community and the Pittsburgh and western Pennsylvania community, CFF has achieved unparalleled advances in the treatment and care of cystic fibrosis.
And they are not slowing down! Today, CFF is pursuing a new frontier, exploring research that holds promise for a cure, while helping those with CF live their healthiest lives through comprehensive care and support.
The mission of CFF is fueled by a dedicated group of scientists, caregivers, donors, volunteers, and people with CF and their families who are united by a common goal – to find a cure for this devastating disease and help those with CF live longer, healthier lives.
Locally, the Western-PA chapter is just beginning to rebound from pandemic cancellations of events that fund most of its revenue that fuels their mission. The CFF’s virtual Great Strides event held on May 15th brought together 85 teams from our region and collectively raised more than $307,000.

Thursday, September 2nd – Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest Gala
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Western Pennsylvania Chapter is proud to present Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest. The chosen honorees exemplify leadership qualities, are active in their communities, and have excelled in business. Those selected are among the most prominent, influential and successful young professionals in our city!
Over the next several months, the Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest honorees will put their creativity, passion and competitive spirit to the test as they work together to raise awareness and funds to support the mission of the CF Foundation – will they break another National fundraising record and retain the title of “Top CFF Finest Program in the Country?” You can find out at the Finest Finale Celebration during the event!

September 12th – Cycle for Life Event North Park
Cystic Fibrosis Cycle for Life provides a great opportunity for companies and groups of friends and family members to come together, virtually or in person, and ride in support of a worthy cause. Those who participate are given the opportunity to display their community involvement and raise funds to provide all people with cystic fibrosis the opportunity to lead full, productive lives.
