Achieva Tees Off to Empower the Disabled

By Cindy Himes

The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation is honored to highlight its community partner Achieva this week in our Saturday Spotlight!

Achieva is a nonprofit organization that supports and empowers individuals with disabilities and their families.  It has comprehensive services that serve thousands of people with disabilities each year.

It is a unique agency to the southwestern PA community as it provides lifelong supports.  From early intervention therapies and diverse housing options, to employment services and special needs trusts, Achieva provides services through the entire life-span.

And, as with most charitable organizations, fund-raising plays a vital role in their continued success, enabling them to provide support services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

On Monday, September 20, Achieva will hold its 23rd Annual Million Dollar Outing at Valley Brook Country Club in McMurray.  The event runs from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm at the beautiful South Hills 27-hole course; and features celebrity guests, prizes and refreshments.

Join the Penguins Foundation and the Penguins Alumni Association in supporting Achieva’s Million Dollar Outing by purchasing a sponsorship, a round of golf, a dinner ticket, or by making a donation!  Sponsorships are available at six different levels, ranging from a Double Eagle Sponsor package to a Tee Sponsorship.

Achieva was founded in 1951 by a group of family members who all desired the same thing – to create a movement that changed the history of isolation and segregation for those with disabilities.
