Penguins Foundation to Recognize National Honor Society Seniors With ‘We Are The Future’ Ticket Program

Pittsburgh, PA – The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation will recognize National Honor Society Seniors from more than 150 regional high schools by offering two complimentary tickets to select Penguins games during the 2018.19 season.

The program, titled “WE ARE THE FUTURE” is designed as a thank-you to students for their commitment in excellence in both the classroom and the community. Students from schools located in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Blair, Butler, Cambria, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Mercer, Somerset, Washington, and Westmoreland Counties are eligible. Of these 15 counties, there are 196 NHS Chapters.

“The Foundation’s commitment is to the children of our region – our core value is ‘Kids Are The Future’ – and we think this is another unique program to honor top high school students and citizens for their achievements,” said Dave Soltesz, president of the Penguins Foundation. “They earn these tickets with their schoolwork through the National Honor Society. That’s why we’re calling it “WE ARE THE FUTURE.” These very accomplished students will no doubt play an important role in making our future better and brighter.”

Rosanne Javorsky, interim executive director of the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, said “This program gives students in all communities of southwestern Pennsylvania the opportunity to be rewarded for their hard work and determination. As educators, we are grateful for the support that the Penguins Foundation continually provides to the learners in our region.  The “WE ARE THE FUTURE” ticket program is yet one more example of the foundation’s remarkable generosity and dedication to our children and their futures.”

The National Honor Society is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just a traditional “honor roll,” NHS serves to identify and recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

Students who are eligible to obtain tickets provided by WE ARE THE FUTURE are active NHS members in their senior year of high school, located in the 15-county region. Students who are interested in obtaining two (2) free tickets to a Penguins game should contact their student advisor for more information. Tickets available while supplies last.
