Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation donates 500 backpacks with school supplies

The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation is distributing 500 backpacks of school supplies to students in Allegheny and Somerset Counties who don’t have the educational resources at home.

The backpacks include a notebook, a folder, construction paper, pencils, a pencil sharpener, crayons, markers, a pencil case, scissors, a ruler and a glue stick.

The distribution includes:

  • 200 backpacks to both the Pennsylvania State Police barracks in Allegheny and Somerset Counties, which will distribute them to local families in need.
  • 100 backpacks to ACH Clear Pathways, a Hill District organization that supports underserved families through after-school programs.

“We are all aware that students do not always have educational resources available at home while schools are closed, and this is one way we can continue to assist our community during this challenging time,” said Jim Britt, executive director of the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation.
