84 Lumber has been named the presenting partner of the Pittsburgh Penguins’ Military Appreciation Platform and Game, which will take place on April 20 at 7:00 PM versus the New Jersey Devils.
The Penguins and 84 Lumber are partnering for the Military Appreciation Game and several other initiatives to celebrate those who have fought, and continue to fight, for our freedom every day.
“At 84 Lumber, we make it a priority to show appreciation to our military. We offer a special discount year-round for active-duty and veterans, we have purple parking spots at each of our locations, and we work closely with organizations like the Fisher House Foundation,” said Amy Smiley, Vice President of Marketing with 84 Lumber. “That’s why, when the Penguins asked us to partner with them on the Military Appreciation platform, we couldn’t say no! We hope this game, and all the military initiatives we’re working on with the Penguins, has a positive impact on veterans and active-duty military members in our community.”
84 Lumber will be providing 160 tickets to welcome local active-duty military and veterans to the Military Appreciation Game. Military members who are interested in attending can enter for their chance to receive tickets here. Military members can enter through Thursday, April 15 and the randomly selected winners will be notified on Saturday, April 17. In addition, any military member or veteran is eligible to receive a special ticket discount for the game. To take advantage, those eligible can visit here to register for a GovX account and purchase tickets.
On April 20, the Penguins will take the ice for pre-game warmups in military green warm-up jerseys designed by Penguins forward Zach Aston-Reese who has an undergraduate degree in graphic design from Northeastern. The jerseys will represent each of the six branches of military: Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force and Coast Guard. Penguins players will also have custom military name plates in the locker room.
Jerseys and name plates will be autographed and put up for auction from April 20 through April 27 at 12:00 PM. Proceeds from the auction will benefit Friends of Pittsburgh Fisher House, as well as the Pittsburgh Warriors. To join the auction, visit here.
84 Lumber is also teaming up with the Penguins Foundation to provide 500 local military children with Hug-A-Hero dolls, customized stuffed dolls that have a picture of the child’s military hero, in hopes of bringing some happiness, joy and comfort to these children. Five hundred randomly selected military children will be chosen to receive their own Hug-A-Hero doll. To make a donation in support of Hug-A-Heroes or to submit your request for your military child, visit here.
All fans in attendance on April 20 will receive a Penguins and 84 Lumber co-branded camo mask and are encouraged to wear their military green in support of our troops and all that have served.
